Chopta and Tungnath offer unspoiled natural beauty of the Uttaranchal Himalayas. It offers breathtaking views of the imposing Himalayan range including Trishul, Nanda Devi and Chaukhamba. Chopta is located at an elevation of 8,790 Ft. above sea level while Tungnath is 12500 Ft. Chopta is surrounded by dense forests of pine, deodar and rhododendron and has a very rich flora and fauna which includes some rare species of birds and mammals. Chopta is also a part of the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary.
Many unique species of birds such as Snow Partridge, Himalayan Monal, Koklass Pheasant, Golden Eagle, Bearded Vulture (Lammergeier), Upland Buzzard, Himalayan Owl, Spot-winged Rosefinch, Rufous-bellied Woodpecker, European Goldfinch, Ashy Wood-Pigeon, Fire-capped Tit, Spot-winged Grosbeak, Himalayan Griffon, Scarlet Finch, Mountain Hawk Eagle, Golden Eye and many more are found in this region.
Chopta has been identified with over 240 bird species and is declared Important Bird Area by BNHS and Birdlife International.

Sattal or Sat Tal is an interconnected group of seven pristine freshwater lakes in Bhimtal, Uttarakhand. Situated at an altitude of about 1,370 meters and set against captivating surroundings of dense Oak and Pine forest, Sattal unfurls the rustic beauty of lower Himalayas. The region is famous for its rich biodiversity as it is home to about 500 species of resident and migratory birds; and over 500 species of butterflies, moths, beetles and other insects.

Heaven for naturalists, birders and photographers alike, these forests are literally pulsating with life with constant sweet chirping of birds. The mesmerizing avian fauna include a unique assortment of birds where one can spot a variety of Babblers, Tits, Thrushes, Raptors and Woodpeckers.

April being the breading season of birds in this region, chances of spotting some exotic and rare species of birds are very high.

– Reach New Delhi (NDLS) Railway station latest by 5:30 am on 08 April 2021
– We suggest travelling by Kathgodam Shatabdi (Train No 12040) which departs from NDLS Station at 06:20 am and reaches Kathgodam by 11:40 am.
– The Tour starts at Kathgodam.

– Your camera with all its accessories.
– As this is a Birding tour we recommend that you carry a telephoto lens preferably
above 400mm.
– Fully charged batteries.
– It is recommended to carry a spare battery.
– Battery charger
– Memory cards / backup devices / Laptop
– Tripod
– Please carry a big cloth / scarf to protect your gear from dust.
– Hooded jacket / Scarf / Balaclava to protect yourself from cold & dust.
– Warm cloths / Windcheater for morning rides.
– It is recommended that you carry basic first aid kit.
– Please avoid bright colored clothing as it scares Birds/wildlife.
– Please avoid wearing perfume / deodorant during the tour.
– Please carry your PAN / Aadhar card for identification at airport / park gate etc.
– Clothing as per season.
– Your medicines if any.
– Travel/Medical insurance (optional).

Chopta is situated at an elevation of 8600 Ft. We are required to trek from Chopta to Tungnath (12200 Ft.) for Snow partridge, Vultures and some other high altitude species. The trek is of about 5 Km but the climb is rather steep. Please embark on this trek with due consideration of your age and physical condition. Horses and Porters are available at Chopta for this trek (not included in the tour cost)

We work very hard to provide a delightful experience to our customers, Cancellations hurt us and as such Refunds are discouraged. However, we do understand that our customers, under exceptional circumstances, may be required to cancel their booking. In such a scenario our cancellation policy is as under:

Cancellation before 30 days of the tour – 75% refund
Cancellation between 20 to 30 days of the tour – 50% refund.
Cancellation within 20 days of the tour – Zero refund.

– Smoking & consumption of alcohol during this tour is strictly prohibited.
– Management is at liberty to change the itinerary/Hotels/Vehicles at any time.
– We will try to cover as many species of Birds/Wildlife as possible, however, we cannot guarantee the sighting of any specific species or species count.
– Force Majeure applies.
– By signing up for this tour, the participant expressly indicates having read and understood the Itinerary, tour inclusions, tour exclusions and our terms & conditions.
